A Day at the Museum

Travel tip number 4: I'll never get a man with my sister in tow. Yesterday a rather red faced chap, who may have hit the Johnny Walker a little early, took a fancy to her. His command of the English language consisted of "Harley Davidson," which was in fact on the back of his jacket. Then today, our taxi driver spent the whole trip teaching her Korean words. Hello, I'm here in the back seat too!

We had a great day at the National Museum of Korea. It is a magnificent building with artifacts and exhibits chronicling the story of the Korean Peninsula from pre-history to 1910 when it was invaded and occupied by Japan. We supposed that a country as new as this, formed in 1948, would want to celebrate its incredibly rich and indeed long history, and do so in a suitably grand way. We saw school children there, and even a unit of Korean soldiers (two years of military service is mandatory here for all men). We walked for hours and only saw two floors!

Tonight we're meeting Rose for dinner near her dance studio, then tomorrow we're taking the "see Seoul and die" tour. Paula seems to have become friends with a lady from the tour company. She phones us at 10pm to make sure we are having a good time. These people never stop working. Rush hour doesn't even begin until 7:30pm, and most people don't start heading home until 9:30pm.
